Restoration of wrought iron railings and gates for the National Trust.

Dorothea Restorations was commissioned to carry out work to the Lion Gateway and the West Courtyard railings at this historic house.

The railings were carefully taken down and transferred to our northern works for restoration. The wrought iron was cleaned of old paint layers and corrosion before being repaired using traditional blacksmithing techniques.

Any replacement was made using genuine re-cycled wrought iron.

The refurbished railings were returned to site and installed using traditional caulked lead before the final paint scheme was applied.
