Restoring coalmining heritage engineering

Working for the National Coalmining Museum on
an exhibition called
‘Cutting Edge’.

Dorothea Restoration’s team at Whaley Bridge has restored seven pieces
of coal mining machinery, including three coal cutters, a shearer loader and
a Dawson Miller Stable Hole Machine. Each piece had been kept outside for
many years and had suffered badly from the ravages of the weather. Each was worked on in turn, with work include dismantling, the removal of large amounts of corrosion, followed by cleaning, repainting and delivery back to site.
