Case Study
Old Admiralty Building, Pall Mall

The restoration of a number of ornate copper finials on top of the Old Admiralty Building in London.

As part of a wider restoration of the Old Admiralty Building next to Admiralty Arch, Dorothea Restorations was appointed to carry out the delicate repairs to original copper finials on a series
of stone domes.

First, the finials were carefully dismantled and removed to our Bristol Workshop. Each was then carefully straightened and repaired by piecing in new pieces
of shaped copper sheet to strengthen weak and corroded sections. These
also needed to be re-finished using a suitable patination fluid to restore its green colouration.

The repaired finials were then returned to their locations on the roof.
