Case Study
St. Alkmunds Church

Repair and restoration of three eighteenth century cast iron windows.

Dorothea Restorations repaired and re-glazed
a series of three surviving Coalbrookdale Company cast iron windows, originally ordered for this Shrewsbury church in 1795.

Each window was carefully dismantled, with the original crown glass window panes were preserved for reuse.

The wind frames were repaired using a variety of specialist cast iron repair techniques, before being cleaned and painted.

The frames were re-fitted into the repaired masonry openings and the original glass panes replaced. Missing glass panes were renewed using a modern crown glass.
