St Chad’s Church, Holt, near Wrexham
The repair of cast iron entrance gates and side panels.
St Chad’s is a 14th century village church, built of red sandstone on the banks
of the River Dee near Wrexham.
Dorothea Restorations was contracted to restore the Victorian cast iron entrance gates and side panels. The gates and ornate pier cages were dismantled and removed from site for proper cleaning and repair.
The cracks in the cast iron were carefully welded and missing sections replaced using cast iron copies of original parts. The ironwork was then blast cleaned and re-painted before being re-fitted on site.
Dorothea Restorations also supplied and fitted some new lanterns to sit on top of the gate piers.
