The waterwheel had to be supported before being jacked to allow withdrawal of the waterwheel shaft. This was then transferred to our Bristol works.
The original wooden shaft was cut in half lengthways to allow for the insertion of a specially machined stainless steel shaft. This was secured in position and the shaft repaired using an epoxy resin based adhesive and filler.
The shaft was then returned to site and fitted in a reversal of the original procedure.
