Alton Waterwheel

30th April 2021

During March and April we completed the manufacturing of a new waterwheel shaft for Alton Mill at The Museum of East Anglian Life. At 15 feet long and 18 1/2 inch square this is one of the larger waterwheel shaft you see in use today and it certainly gets the respect it deserves from our team. The gudgeon was wedged in place and three metal band were heated up and installed around the outside to secure the gudgeon in place. The extreme heat resulted in a great photo which can be seen in the background. Two more month and the Mill will be up and running and ready for the first visitors.
