Traditional glazed metalwork repair and resoration services
Dorothea Restorations is a leading UK contractors specialising in the repair of glass work and restoration of traditional glazed metal structures and architectural features.
Our services cover everything from metal windows, canopies and roof lights to complete conservatories, orangeries, glasshouses, plant houses and Victorian metal canopies.
Our specialist teams have unrivalled experience in all areas of glasswork and the unique challenges of working with composite structures – both metal with glass and wood with glass.
Dorothea's comprehensive glasswork conservation service covers everything including condition surveys and repair specifications, paint sampling, pattern-making, casting repairs, blacksmithing, cleaning and finishing with both traditional and modern paint systems.
Some of our work is carried out on-site, and our experienced engineers are equally able to disassemble and then reassemble the very largest glazed structures to enable more comprehensive workshop restorations.
We work with all forms of glass, including decorative and bent glass, and offer our own specialist facilities for the repair and renewal of leaded glass and Victorian metal canopies. We can also originate new designs to order.

Restoration of 17th century strong box
It not very often you get the opportunity to restore an object with so much history and stories to tell. The strong box forms part of the C. Hoare & Co history and the transfer of gold and coins across oceans and dirt roads.
Bishop Montague's Tomb, Bath Abbey
Dorothea Restorations had the privilege of working with Peter Meehan ACR on the restoration of the historic railings around the Montague Tomb. The conservation of these railings form a part of the significance the Abbey has played in Bath's long heritage and the history of the Abbey.
