Cast iron restoration and conservation of straight and spiral staircases, balconies and balustrades

Dorothea Restorations offers the full range of technical and high calibre design services required for bespoke ironwork restoration projects such as staircases, canopies, balustrades or balconies.

Where fine detailing in traditional wrought (puddled) wrought iron has been lost or badly treated in the past (such as leaf or scrolling), our ironwork specialists and master craftsmen can recreate authentic detail, working with surviving fabric or creating exact replicas, depending on the circumstances (see Philosophy).

Cast iron structural features can be cleaned, repaired or replaced as appropriate, including complete new-build projects to the very highest standard.

As well as work on the traditional iron materials required for a cast iron staircase, spiral staircase, balcony, parapet and balustrade projects, we are also required to work on timber using wood conservation techniques and masonry – as with stone balcony platforms or wooden handrails.

Here again, our breadth of engineering and technical skills means we can handle all these elements, making us the ideal one-stop-shop for this kind of project.
