Case study: St Alkmund's Church Heritage Cast Iron Window
Dorothea Restorations repaired and re-glazed a series of three surviving Coalbrookdale Company heritage cast iron windows, originally ordered for this Shrewsbury church in 1795.
Each eighteenth century cast iron window was carefully dismantled, with the original crown glass window panes preserved for reuse.
Widnow conservation works involved using a variety of specialist cast iron repair techniques, before being cleaned and painted.
The frames were re-fitted into the repaired masonry openings and the original glass panes replaced. Missing glass panes were renewed using a modern crown glass.
